- Any host to WP Engine
- Free migration
Is your site ready for a free migration?
If you can answer yes to all three, your site qualifies.
It runs on WordPress
The site already uses WordPress, on any host.
It's under 5 GB
Files, media, and database together come to less than 5 GB. Bigger sites are quoted separately.
It's free of malware
The site is working normally with no known hacks. Infected sites need a cleanup first, quoted separately.
Three steps for you. Modevfy does the rest
Do these in order. Each one takes a few minutes, and the booking form below walks you through them.

Book My MigrationYour site is moved
Nothing to do. Your site is copied, tested, and switched over with DNS, SSL, and redirects in place.
A hands-on WP Engine migration service
Moving a site's files, database, and domain can be a hassle that takes time away from your business. WP Engine's free migration plugin works for simple sites. This is the full move, done for you and checked by a person.
Full site copy
Files, database, themes, plugins, and media moved from your current host to WP Engine.
Testing before launch
Pages, forms, logins, and checkout tested on a temporary WP Engine address before anything changes for visitors.
DNS and SSL
Your domain pointed to WP Engine and a free SSL certificate set up so the site loads securely.
Email kept working
Email records mapped before the switch, so mail keeps arriving at your current inbox.
Redirects and links
Old addresses and internal links checked so search engines and visitors land on the right pages.
Checked after the switch
The live site reviewed again once DNS updates, with fixes for anything the move turns up.
What the free migration covers
Covered
One malware-free WordPress site under 5 GB, moving from any host to WP Engine on a Startup (Essential) plan or higher.
Quoted separately
Sites over 5 GB, malware cleanup, multisite networks, large WooCommerce stores, moves to the Lite plan, and sites that aren't WordPress yet.
Your saved card
Saved on Stripe when you book, never charged upfront. It's only charged $149 if you cancel WP Engine, move to the Lite plan, or ask WP Engine for a refund within 62 days.
Disclosure: modevfy is a WP Engine affiliate and earns a referral fee when you sign up through links on this page. That fee is what makes the migration free. Modevfy is not part of or endorsed by WP Engine.
Managed WordPress hosting, set up right
WP Engine is managed hosting built only for WordPress, with daily backups, staging sites, and support that knows WordPress. A clean migration means you start with a fast, secure site instead of carrying over old problems.
WP Engine migration FAQ
Is the WP Engine migration really free?
Yes. WP Engine pays modevfy a referral fee when you sign up through the link on this page, and that fee covers the migration. Nothing is charged upfront. You save a card when you book, and it is only charged if you leave WP Engine within 62 days.
Why do you need my card if it is free?
WP Engine only pays the referral fee after an account has been active for 62 days. The saved card covers the work if the account is cancelled before then. Your card is saved on Stripe, not charged, and is only charged $149 if you cancel WP Engine, move to the Lite plan, or ask WP Engine for a refund within 62 days.
Will I see a charge on my card?
No. When you save your card, your bank may run a $0 check to confirm the card is valid, which is released right away. Nothing is charged unless you leave WP Engine within 62 days.
Which WP Engine plans qualify?
Startup (Essential) and higher. The Lite plan does not qualify, but a migration to Lite can be quoted separately.
Do I have to buy WP Engine myself?
Yes. You sign up with your own account and card through the link on this page, so the hosting is in your name from day one. Add modevfy as a user so the migration can be done.
What access do you need for the migration?
A WordPress admin login for your current site, access to your current host, and access to wherever your domain is registered, so DNS can be updated at launch. Add modevfy as a user where possible instead of sharing your own passwords.
What if my site is over 5 GB or has malware?
It can still be moved, just not under the free offer. Large sites and malware cleanup are quoted separately, and a cleaned site can then move to WP Engine.
Can you migrate a site that is not WordPress?
This offer is for WordPress to WordPress only. Moving from Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, or a custom site to WordPress is a rebuild, covered by a WordPress redesign instead.
Will my website go down during the migration?
The site is copied to WP Engine and tested on a temporary address while your current site stays live. The switch happens when DNS is updated, so visitors should not see downtime.
How long does a WordPress migration to WP Engine take?
Most small business sites are moved within a few business days of getting access. Larger sites and stores can take longer, and you will get a timeline before work starts.
Does WP Engine have its own migration plugin?
Yes. WP Engine offers a free automated migration plugin that works well for simple sites. This offer is for people who want the whole move handled for them, including DNS, SSL, email routing, redirects, and testing.
What happens to my email?
WP Engine hosts websites, not email. If your email runs through your current host, it is mapped out before the switch so mail keeps arriving, or moved to a service like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
Is modevfy part of WP Engine?
No. Modevfy is an independent WordPress developer and a WP Engine affiliate. WP Engine is a trademark of WPEngine, Inc.
